Origin of This Game

This game originally started out as a parody game I released for phones in 2016. Since the game had gotten taken down twice by one of the app stores, I decided to redraw the parodied characters with my own characters, and kept most of the moves and code. I put it up as a replacement, and left it at that. So two years later, I decided to open the project back up again and make it more unique from it's rushed, stand-in version. I wanted to put in moves that really fit the characters, not just because the character who they originally were had that move, so that they're not being stuck with a moveset because it's convenient. Now the focus is that while some of the moves will remain, ones that don't fit will be changed. I wanted to be more creative, so I put in the Puzzle Pieces to represent puzzle games. Geo, representing arcade games, got a claw machine for his Up Special that you can control if you successfully get caught in it (and other characters can get caught in it, too). He also now has flippers from a pinball machine that swat you downward for his Down Special. These make it more clear what he represents, and set his moves apart from the rest.

There were also the twin characters put in. A lot of their moves are focused on technology, and many of their specials rely on whether they have enough battery power left to do the move on either their phone, laptop, or both. Their Neutral Special is where they stream an attack that hits exactly where they're at, but also the streamed version of themselves hits wherever their laptop is at. Their Like/Dislike button gives a chance to do more or less damage, depending on which side is hit. If the Like button is hit, it will add to that attack's damage the next time it's used. If the Dislike button is hit, it will subtract from the attack's damage beginning from the next time it's used.

Platforms were put into this version and the gravity was overhauled. Much of the music was improved, too. It's now in a state that's a huge improvement from where it was from its last release.  I'm glad that I spent some time to go back into the project and give it a better release.
